Directions to Stan and Chris Schierman’s House 

Warning - do not use GPS and pick the "shortest route" - you will be directed to a road that is not passable. We have had two sets of guests get stuck at night and/or severely damage their vehicle. This road is out of range for cell phones too. A terrible way to start your vacation. Use directions below.

1. From Kona (North Route): take Highway 19 toward Waimea and continue down the coastline into Hilo. The road changes to Highway 11 as you leave Hilo and head towards Volcano. Now continue with directions of leaving Hilo Airport from Kanoelehu Street….See #2 directions below.

2. From Hilo Airport: go approximately one mile to the only intersection. Turn left onto Kanoelehua Street (also called Highway 11) headed toward Volcano. Continue about 7 miles past stores/mall. When two lanes become four get over to far left to turn onto (L) Road 130 toward Pahoa and Kalapana. Now go to the * below.

3. From Kailua/Kona – (South Route): continue winding around on Highway 11 past Volcano National Park toward Hilo. About 7 miles before Hilo turn right onto Highway 130 at the town of Keaau. Now go to the * below.

The Saddle road has been much improved and most of it is the nicest road on the island. Here is the Google map of the Saddle Road: Just click these words:  Saddle Road

*  Road 130 (bypass Keaau town): On Hwy. #130; Follow the sign toward Pahoa & Kalapana for approximately 10 miles. Shortly after you see the rock sign for Pahoa and a large Long's Drug Store (on the right) turn left off of Hwy. #130, onto Kahakai Blvd (There will be a new KFC on your right as you turn left). You are now 6 miles from us. Continuing on Kahakai, stay to the left after the school and continue past the sign to Hawaiian Beaches Park. One block, before Kahakai ends, turn left at Kahakai Park onto  Papio St.  Stay on Papio, until you come to Puhi St. (3^rd street on your right side). We are 15-2707, the Blue house on the ocean, at the end of Puhi St. that intersects with Welea St.
