 Big Island Beaches

While the Big Island has many of the best beaches in the State, many of them are on the West side of the island near the big  resorts. (To stay at a resort near a beach on the West side will cost $300 and up) They are about an hour North of Kailua-Kona and about two hours from us.  The East side has many nice black sand coves, but the currents are often difficult. Closest to us, (approximately 7 miles)  is safe swimming at Ahalanui and great snorkeling at the Kapoho tide pools. Hilo and Kehena area also has beach access, approximately 25-30 minute drive from us. The best way to learn about  beaches (and everything else) on the Big Island is to get the book below. Just click on the book for a link to Amazon. COM.
